Dublin faced Kerry in the final of the All Ireland Ladies senior football Championship, with the match taking place at Croke Park and attended by just under 45,000 fans.
Dublin emerged victorious with a final score of 0-18 to 1-10. This marked the end of a long championship journey for both teams, where Dublin sought to reclaim the title they last won in 2020, which was their fourth consecutive win. Kerry, on the other hand, had been without a title for 30 years and had faced heartbreak in the previous year’s final against Meath, only to be bested by Dublin this time around.
The game looked over early into the second half when the Dubs had a nine point lead but Kerry fought back at the death but too late.
Ní Mhuircheartaigh’s scored the goal for Kerry, where she managed to rise above the rest and punch the ball into the net. Carla Rowe made an impactful run across the pitch for Dublin and secured what was described as “the score of the game”. Other commendable moments include Leah Caffrey’s brave block that solidified Dublin’s path to victory.
The Dublin ladies have successfully reclaimed the Brendan Martin Cup, while Kerry’s long wait for All-Ireland senior glory continues.
